Finn Berg debuts 63m explorer concept with unique "observatory elevator"

Finn Berg has revealed his debut superyacht concept, a 63.3-metre explorer yacht known as ECO-X.

ECO-X is designed with an underwater viewing cabin in a similar style to Feadship's 83.5-metre Savannah and Abeking & Rasmussen's 74.5-metre Elandess.  The concept also has a telescopic observatory elevator that extends well above the hardtop, a feature "not seen on a yacht before".

"ECO-X is designed for both leisure pursuits and scientific research," added Finn Berg. "Simply put, this is a yacht to take you places."

The yacht's exterior styling is unmistakably explorer-esque, featuring a near vertical bow, masculine lines and a sheltered foredeck.

With a volume of 1,250GT, ECO-X can accommodate up to 12 guests, 14 crew and four scientists. Interiors incorporate "subtle Japanese elements" alongside freestanding furniture and sofa seating for a "relaxed ambiance". Renderings reveal slatted, LED-lit ceilings, skylights and an abundance of greenery incorporated throughout the living spaces.

The main deck features a small laboratory and two gull wing doors which provide access to twin nine-metre tenders, Jet Skis and a rescue tender. Renderings also reveal a touch-and-go helipad, a circular swimming pool on the aft deck and a sundeck arranged with sunloungers, sofa seating and wide, fixed sunpads on the bow.

Described as "future-proofed", the superyacht would have a drivetrain powered by methanol fuel cells.
