Registration Open For The Boat International Superyacht Regatta 2009

Participating yachts must have a minimum LOA of 24 metres (approximately 80’) and will be divided into Performance and Cruising categories, with fleet starts for the Performance category and pursuit starts for the Cruising superyachts. Both fleets will race under the IRC rating system through the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago, with the courses set by the YCCS Race Committee based on each day's meteorological conditions.

Neville Crichton's 30.48 metre (98') Alfa Romeo (NZL), the overall winner in 2008 after dominating in the Performance Division, will need to work hard if she is to defend her title. She can expect a challenge from two sailing giants who have already expressed their interest in participating again -- the 30.5-metre (100') Y3K (GER) and the Ed Dubois-designed 44 metre (144') Salperton (GBR). Other yachts such as the 35 metre (115') Hamilton II (GBR) and the Farr-designed Southern Wind 100 Farewell (ITA) have already assured their place in the fleet and a chance of winning the Boat International Silver Trophy by registering online. Registration is currently open and early registration is advised, as a maximum of only 30 entries will be accepted.

As with last year's edition, the social events ashore will be every bit as exciting as the competition at sea. Festivities will range from a crew party on the YCCS Piazza Azzurra overlooking Porto Cervo Marina to a beach party for owners and guests at the Hotel Romazzino hosted by Boat International Media, as well as a gala dinner hosted by the YCCS.
