The Boat International Silver Jubilee Cup
Tony Harris CEO of Boat International Media confirmed today that he has commissioned Garrard the crown jewellers and makers of the Americas Cup to design and produce a custom sterling silver cup. The Boat International Silver Jubilee Cup will be a perpetual trophy kept in the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Clubhouse and be competed for on an annual basis at the Boat International Superyacht Regatta in Porto Cervo.
The trophy has been specially created for the event, a contemporary design in sterling silver, combined with classic elegance.
Rolex will also be providing one of their classic watches as first prize for the overall winner of the regatta and Audi who are also official partners of the YCCS and sponsors of the regatta will be providing a teak and silver plaque for first, second and third prizes for their Audi Cup day to be held as part of the regatta.
Southern Winds Shipyard will also be holding their 9th SWS Trophy during the regatta. SWS boats will compete amongst all other boats but will extract results at the end of the regatta to determine their 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall places with Silver Plate trophys as prizes.
Several other partners have been commissioned to provide prizes for the regatta:
Linley will provide prizes for the winner of the cruising division and the winner of the performance division respectively. The prizes are two of their signature pieces; the anniversary fruit bowl in rosewood with sterling silver insert and hallmarked detailing.
John Mellows and his company Azure Dragon have created two bespoke trophies for 2nd and 3rd prize overall of the regatta. They have been handcrafted in the form of sail sculptures made of polished stainless steel. He says "I firmly believe that, given the time, commitment and money that goes into yacht racing the prizes should reflect the effort involved. The prizes should be worth winning".
Bobby Nash & his company Latitude Kinsale will create three 3D chart™ prizes for line honours for each day of the regatta. Bobby's unique 3D chart™ creations are nautical charts layered to show the depth contours of any chosen coastline in three dimensions. The prizes will be based on the NE coast of Sardinia showing the Arcipelago Di La Maddalena using both modern and classic B&W charts, we are promised that the pieces will be stunning - just like the location and the regatta.
Now with over 27 boats having entered the regatta and more on the waiting list, this promises to be a highly competitive and fun event for all involved. For more information please go to our website at www.boatinternationalsuperyachtregatta.com.
