Superyachts bid farewell to The Rendezvous in Monaco

Last night in the Principality of Monaco, The Rendezvous fleet embarked upon a second cruise in company to Plage Passable for the famous Diamonds & White Party.

Guests from the 11 participating superyachts tendered to shore and enjoyed a Luxor champagne cocktail and canapés on the beach, followed by dinner served overlooking the beautiful bay of Villefranche.  A live band began the evening’s entertainment and international DJ Oliver Fatemi had the dance floor filled until the early hours.  Some owners returned with their yachts to Port Hercule, whilst others made use of the complimentary transfer service provided by Rolls-Royce.

On the final day of event, the Yacht Club de Monaco hosted a Farewell Brunch for all guests from the participating yachts – which ranged in length from 125ft to 236ft with a combined length overall of more than 1,800ft – to celebrate the conclusion of four days of events on and off the waters of the Cote d’Azur.

After brunch, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, Bernard d’Alessandri, and Tony Harris, CEO of Boat International Media, announced the winners of the various competitions and awarded prizes provided courtesy of Lancelot Lancaster White.

The first awards were presented for the Rendezvous Grand Prix Challenge.  In second place was the team from Harbour Island, and in first place the team from Wajer & Wajer, who were presented with a wall-mounted mirror with brake disc frame made from components of a Red Bull Racing F1 team car.

Motor yacht Go were declared the winners of the Rendezvous Cocktail Competition for their cocktail creation “Mango Tango”, and received a presentation Jubilee Anchor coated in pure gold with 0.25 carat diamond.

The Rendezvous Chefs' Competition was very highly contested, with Special Mentions from the Jury chaired by Christian Garcia, Chef of HSH Prince Albert II, for Charles Christie (Titania) and Jared Ferrall (Gran Finale).  The winner was Simon Jones of Lady Britt, who was presented with a Jubilee Wine Cannon, made from the wood of HMS Victory.

The final award to be presented was the Art de Vivre La Belle Classe.  Since its creation in 2005 at the instigation of HSH Prince Albert II, President of the Yacht Club de Monaco, La Belle Classe has established a code of good conduct and etiquette among members of the superyacht industry and recognizes yacht owners’ approach to sea living. The judges found it very difficult to decide one winner, with two of the attending yacht owners having covered over 20,000nm in the past year.  Consequently, a special La Belle Classe prize for Naval Etiquette was awarded to the owners of Lady Britt and La Belle Classe Art de Vivre trophy went to Valentin Zavadnikov of Quinta Essentia, who competes in high level international regattas.  Mr. Zavadnikov was deemed by the judges to be an Ambassador for developing the sport in Russia.
