Superyacht owners and industry VIPs streamed in to Phuket this week to celebrate the very special tenth anniversary edition of the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous, which took place 16 – 18 December 2010.

Two days of sailing events are combined with a fun-filled social program which includes superb dining and beach parties, games and shoreside activities and a real sense of camaraderie amongst Rendezvous guests, all like-minded sea loving friends.
Superyachts who attended the Rendezvous include: 50m Perseus built by Perini Navi in 2001; 42m Maverick II, built by Sterling in 1988; 40.3m My Lady Arraya built by Oceanfast in 1990 and based in Thailand; 36.07m Vie Sans Soucis built by Kings Yachts in Taiwan; the 74M Silver Zwei built in 2009; 53m Noble House built in 2005 by Sensations Yacht; 27.2m Major Affair built in 2007 by Sunseeker and Pershing's 24.8m Cavallino.
'We are here because it is a very friendly gathering of yacht owners in Phuket, a region that has an exciting future as a base in Asia and it is fun to be part of the start.’ Johnny Warrillow, Owner of 42m Maverick II
The beautiful My Lady Arraya, at anchor in the tranquil Nai Harn Bay, was the host yacht for the Opening Cocktail Party. The following day saw sailing yachts, accompanied by the participating motor yachts, set forth on course to Pansea Bay and sponsoring host hotel, The Surin, Phuket. In the evening, guests participated in the popular Feadship Boat Challenge held during an opulent Cocktail Pool Party at The Surin, set along the beach front with spectacular views of Surin Bay.
A second day of sailing saw yachts racing from Surin Bay and back, with courses set by Race Director, Andy Dowden with PRO Simon James. Following an exciting day on the water, superyacht owners and VIP guests were invited to attend the elegant Boat International Media Gala Dinner at The Surin. The social highlight of the event, guests enjoyed a delicious feast of culinary delights from east and west with live music and dancing.
'The event exceeded my expectations. Thank you Boat International Media for inviting me to this extraordinary event, it was very worthwhile attending and I met many owners who share my love of yachts.' Dr. Herbert Wertheim, Owner of Westport 105 Brain Power and World Superyacht Award 2011 Judge
'The Spirit of the Rendezvous' by Boat International Media recognises a yacht owner who has contributed in notable enthusiasm and spirit to the event. Sailing yacht Perseus, currently on a world cruise clocking 20,000 nautical miles this year alone and having changed her schedule to attend the Rendezvous in Phuket, received this year's award and a bottle of Möet & Chandon. The owners commented, ‘We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are sure to be back in the future.’
After dinner and the traditional lighting of 'Lanna' sky lanterns from The Surin's beautiful private beach, all guests came together at the Rolling Stock Crew BBQ & Beach Party, held at nearby Surin Beach. Organizers Gordon Fernandes and Captain Charlie Dwyer led guests in toasting a successful Rendezvous with celebrations continuing into the early hours.
'Feadship has been involved with this event for 10 years and we will continue. We believe in supporting the region and growing the superyacht industry in Asia.' Koos Zitman, Feaship
